It is one of the most beautiful and more famous Square in Rome where you can admire masterpieces from artists as Bernini, Borromini and Giacomo Della Porta that was among the most important exponents of Baroque Art.
The Baroque place is without any doubt the most popular of Rome. Completely pedestrian and closed, it has preserved the form and dimensions of the Stadium Domiziano, of which it took the place.                                                           
Between the compact mass of the buildings which surround it, emerges the concave frontage of the church Santa Agnese in Agnone with its twin bell-towers and its high cupola due to the genius of Borromi. 
The central Fountain, or Fountain dei Fiumi, created by Bernini is surmounted by an obelisk. 
The fountain of the South was also designed by Bernini, and the Fountain of north is dating from the XIX century. 
This place has been during many centuries the theatre of numerous popular festivals and sumptuous representations. 
Of these traditions, today remains only the festival of Beffana of which the culminating days are the 5 and the 6 January, during which it is illuminated with the sound of the trumpets.
